Featured Tattoo Artist: Steve Morris

We selected Steve Morris as our Featured Artist for April for his beautiful color and realism tattoos.

Steve has been tattooing professionally since 1998. He was drawn to tattooing because it is “the youngest art form there is. I found that to be very intriguing.”

When asked about his favorite styles to tattoo he told us, “Some people may know me for photorealistic rendering, portraits, and the like. I most enjoy a project that may a bit out of the ordinary, or bizarre. Something that could be considered art, and not just a tattoo.”

Steve currently works at Bodyworks Tattoo in Pittsburgh, PA. “I’ve been there for about 7 years now and couldn’t be happier. We focus on custom work, appointment only, no flash, no piercing. We also offer laser editing, and removal. for those of us that may not be so happy with existing work, laser can be an excellent tool to open the door for a better more refined project.”

Steve’s advice for someone looking to get a tattoo:

“Get the tattoo you want from the artist you want to collect from, and let them do their thing. The most successful tattoos I see have a simple direction, and the proper size to fit the body correctly.”

Steve’s advice for tattoo artists who are just starting out:

“You get back what you put in. Try to understand this is a life long dedication, not just a way to make a quick buck. If you’re interesting in doing this for cash or popularity, you’re in the wrong place.”
